There is an exciting line-up confirmed for this year’s Rics North Rural Conference being held in Hexham soon.
A host of land, legal, housing and agricultural experts will speak at the event including John Roberts, deputy director of CAP direct payments policy at Defra, who will talk about the latest changes to the CAP and the impact of the reform for the region’s agricultural professionals.
Robert Atkinson and Neil Robson, partners at Ward Hadaway, will address case law and legal updates for rural and land professionals, while Monica Burns, regional manager at the National Housing Federation will discuss how more affordable rural housing can be delivered across the region.
David Coulson, partner at Addisons Chartered Surveyors, sits on the Rics’ Rural Professional Group Board and is chairman of the annual conference.
He said: “It gives me great pleasure to chair the Rics North Rural Conference. I look forward to seeing many of our local rural professionals there. We have a very topical programme this year with some top-quality speakers, so those who work in the agricultural sector will certainly benefit professionally from attending.”
Other speakers include Andrew Sheridan, senior forestry consultant at Lockhart Garratt, who will address the marketing and opportunity of trees, while Charles Cowap, principal lecturer at Harper Adams University, will speak about best practice guidance for eco-systems and opportunities in sustainable delivery.
An overview of land and property as an investment will be provided by Jason Beedell and James Reynolds of Smiths Gore, with Darren Edwards, partner at Fisher German, finishing the day with a talk on overcoming and managing the challenges of a renewable project on an estate.
The Rics North Rural Conference is being held on Tuesday, October 22, from 9am-4.30pm at the Best Western Beaumont Hotel in Hexham.
