A MIDDLESBROUGH logistics company has unveiled plans to create a new portfolio commercial premises after making a series of property and land purchases in its home town.

AV Dawson has bought the Bowes Road Industrial Estate, the former Newbould’s pie factory on Startforth Road and has agreed terms on 3.5 acres of playing field land on Forty Foot Road in the past six months.

It plans to use the various land purchases to provide a diverse range of office, warehouse and industrial developments.

Managing director Gary Dawson said: “ The investment we plan to make on these various sites will provide real opportunities for our own and third party businesses to expand in to new premises and we hope it will also attract inward investment to the area.

“With AV Dawson already offering warehousing and the ability to move goods by rail, road and sea from Riverside Park we believe this complete package will be a major draw.”

The Bowes Road Industrial Estate, located opposite the AV Dawson headquarters, was the first estate on Riverside Park.

The Startforth Road factory is scheduled to be completely gutted and transformed into four open plan offices on the first floor with assembly and dispatch space below.

The football pitch land will be converted in to new warehouses offering 100,000 sq ft of space.
