Rapidly growing Opus Building Services has moved to bigger offices to accommodate its increasing workforce.
The specialist electrical and mechanical contractors have moved to Boldon Court from their previous headquarters at the Quadrus Centre Boldon, having previously spent five years at the Sunderland Business Innovation Centre.
The firm provides specialist heating and plumbing services across a range of sectors including and counts Esh Group, Sunderland Council, Interserve and Owen Pugh among their clients.
Gavin Richardson, managing director, said: “We were anticipating the workforce growing so started looking for alternative offices. We chose to relocate to bigger premises in Boldon because of the high quality labour force available and its close proximity to major road networks for Sunderland, Newcastle and South Tyneside as well as areas north and south of the region such as Stockton and Teesside.”
The company, founded in 2006, grew from one employee to 20 within five years and now employs close to 100 people, and the recent move comes as the company has enjoyed year-on-year growth.
The firm hit targeted turnover of £8m this year and predicts sales of £10m to £12m this year.
Mr Richardson said: “We’re focused on quality, service and hard work as well as good business practices and ethos which I think has helped contribute towards our growth during the recession. The worst of the recession appears to be over but many businesses will face a challenge in terms of labour and a skills deficit. However I don’t believe this will be an issue for our business as we have a low turnover of staff and a loyal, skilled workforce.
“As we’ve built a solid reputation we enjoy lots of repeat business from our valuable customers and have experienced year-on-year growth since the company was created. We have a North East focus but because of the growth and our reputation, we are picking up more and more contracts nationally.
