Clugston Construction secures £7m contract

Building and civil engineering contractor Clugston Construction has secured a new contract worth £7m for Tracerco in Billingham

Building and civil engineering contractor Clugston Construction has secured a new contract worth £7m for Tracerco in Billingham.

The grant will be used to build a new 61,000sq foot bespoke research and development facility in the Tees Valley Enterprise Zone to house its rapidly expanding team, one of the largest developments on an Enterprise Zone Business Rate Discount site in the country.

The project for Tracerco is supported by the Let’s Grow Fund, a collaboration between the Journal, BE Group and UNW LLP which provides grant support for capital investment and research and development projects creating or safeguarding jobs in the North East.

The contract will involve Clugston developing a new technology centre, a facility which will include bespoke research and testing facilities for the company’s subsea products and services.

The contract will provide employment opportunities across Clugston’s entire supply chain, providing work for more than 100 construction people during the delivery. As a result of the secured contract, the company has also made several appointments at its office in Hebburn.

Clugston Construction’s regional manager Steve Waggett said: “This important project demonstrates the diverse capabilities we have to offer customers.”
