Gloucestershire farmer Rob Harrison has been elected as the new chairman of the NFU national dairy board.
Mr Harrison, who farms 430 acres near Moreton-in-Marsh with his wife Emma, succeeds Mansel Raymond. He is a previous chairman of the next generation dairy board.
Michael Oakes from Worcestershire is new vice-chairman.
“I’d like to thank my predecessor Mansel Raymond, whose work on the voluntary code has put the dairy industry in a much stronger position for the future, and all the outgoing board members,” said Mr Harrison.
“I’m now looking forward to the challenge ahead of me as the board’s new chairman.
“There are pressing issues facing the dairy industry, including the recent retail milk price cuts and price war. I will be seeking urgent meetings with processors in the coming weeks to look for ways of addressing these challenges as a supply chain.”
