Harrison & Hetherington had forward over 900 Cattle at their weekly Wednesday sale at Borderway consisting of over 550 Store Cattle and Weanlings, 266 Calves and 90 Dairy Cattle.

With new vendors appearing with all classes of cattle every week to Borderway this Weekly Sale continues to grow. 157 Vendors and 122 Purchasers combined to ensure an excellent days trading for all concerned, values remain strong in all sections.

Store Cattle – A larger entry of store cattle forward at the weekly sale which also included a special section for Native bred cattle. All classes were very easily sold with an abundance of prospective purchases forward. Top overall was a Limousin cross steer from Mr P E Robinson, Pelutho Park, Silloth selling to £1350 and heifers peaked at £1290 for A British Blue from regular supporters Messrs Baxter, Eden Bank Farm, Beaumont. In the native section top overall was an Aberdeen Angus cross again from Mr P E Robinson, Pelutho Park selling to £1200. Bullocks topped at £1125 again for an Angus from B & K Sloan, Stainton House Farm, Stainton. More are required , please advise entries.

A mixed show of 266 with quality in high demand. Top call of the day was £475 achieved twice, firstly for a Hereford bull from Messrs Wood, Groundy Croft, Drigg and secondly from Messrs Cannon, Bluehills, Auchencairn for a British Blue heifer. Black and white calves saw a similar trade with strong and quality finding big demand. Top call in the black and white section was £305 from Whitelarid Farm.

A catalogue entry of 572 head saw trade maintain late rates with the sale slightly up on the year. Top price to £1,300 and £1,250 for Angus bullocks shown by D. & Y. Wilson, Plumpe, British Blue bullocks sold to £1,230 (x4) also from Messrs Wilson. Limousin heifers sold to £1,280 again from Messrs Wilson, Plumpe.
