A PILATES studio is celebrating its first anniversary after a rapid year of growth and expansion of health and wellbeing classes.

Yarm-based Studio 21, which opened in September 2010 running five Pilates classes, now runs 12 plus a range of health and wellbeing activities including belly dancing, Zumba and holistic therapy.

The studio, which was opened by Vicky Rees, is the first Pilatestick centre in the UK and has broken its turnover target for the first year of trading.

Vicky said: “I am delighted at how quickly and organically the studio has grown in the last year. The aim was to run nine Pilates classes by the end of the first 12 months of business trading; we actually hit this target five months early and now run 12.

“A range of specialist fitness and wellbeing classes and services are also available now, and this is something we are planning to expand on further in the coming years.

“Pilates is not only relaxing but also an effective form of exercise, which can help with numerous illnesses. I am very passionate about the exercise.”
