WORKING Links, one of the region’s leading welfare to work providers, is celebrating nationally after helping its 100,000th person into work.
COLIN Scott, the organisation’s regional director, underlined the importance of the strong links that have been forged in the region. He said: "We are delighted to have reached this major milestone, but it is important to recognise not only the efforts of our own people but also the vital role that our partners play in our success.
"We have developed strong partnerships throughout the country and particularly in the North East where, clearly, the strength of these relationships underpin our achievements."
The reputation of the organisation has now become global after Colin recently attended a conference in China to talk about how the company has worked with partners to achieve such impressive results. The invitation to visit China came after Working Links was highlighted for having a good track record in helping people in disadvantaged communities find work.
Colin said: "China is having to address some significant labour market problems caused by massive economic growth. The biggest surprise for me was that many of the challenges faced by the Chinese authorities are similar to those in the UK. Delegates were very interested in the value of public/private sector partnerships and how we work with our partners to identify and address barriers to employment."
Since the company was formed in 2000, Working Links has become established as one of the main providers of employment and training services.
