Whitebred Shorthorn bull fetches 900gns at sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the spring sale of Whitebred Shorthorn Bulls on behalf of members of the Whitebred Shorthorn Association on Friday February 25.

A small catalogue of six bulls saw all entries forward to be judged by Angus Murray, of Sewingshields, Haydon Bridge, who awarded the championship to Parton Captain, a January 2004 bull bred and exhibited by Messrs Hewson, Parton Farm, Wigton. Sired by Parton Sergeant, this bull sold at 900gns to Mr W Morton, Grennan, Penpont, Thornhill.

The reserve champion, Hole of Lyne Captain, was bred and exhibited by Mr R Telford, Hole of Lyne, Roadhead. Sired by Corrie Captain, this bull failed to reach its reserve price in the ring but was sold later at an enhanced figure. Third prize bull Hottbank Mariner, bred and exhibited by Mr J R F Pattinson, Hottbank, Bardon Mill, Hexham, realised 600gns.
