Newcastle digital video firm Three Motion used drone technology to film the construction of Hitachi's Newton Aycliffe

 

A Newcastle firm has used drone technology to showcase the construction of Hitachi’s forthcoming train factory near Newton Aycliffe has been produced by a Newcastle firm.

Three Motion have followed North East firms Rainton Construction and Finley Structures as they piece together the factory on the 127,480m2 site, using their Hexacopter unit - a large remote controlled six-rotor drone.

The firm worked with Japan-based Hitachi to produce footage of the huge construction project from up to 400 ft above the site.

Gavin Knights, commercial director of Three Motion, said: “The permanent record this project is capturing will be shown all over world, including permanent focus at Hitachi’s head office in Japan, where there is huge interest in this development in the UK and in trains being manufactured here again for the first time for many years.”

Three Motion have also promised to film inside the facility once it is operational.
