A NORTH East lawyer is in the running for a top national award.

Paula Myers, partner in the commercial litigation team at Newcastle-based law firm Ward Hadaway, has been shortlisted for Contentious Solicitor of the Year by the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Solicitors (ACTAPS). Myers is the only lawyer across the whole of the North to be nominated for the award, which recognises outstanding work in the field of contentious trust and probate issues.

On making the three-strong shortlist for the award, Myers said: “It is a real honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award, particularly since it is decided by my peers and leading individuals in this area of law. Contentious trust and probate matters involving disputed estates and inheritances are on the increase at the moment, but they require extremely careful handling.

“At Ward Hadaway, we always strive to give our clients the very best advice in such situations, and hopefully my nomination for this award demonstrates the high quality of service which we provide.”

Myers has more than 13 years’ specialist experience in litigation matters, advising companies and individuals in a range of disputes.
