NEWCASTLE law firm Ward Hadaway advised engineering specialist the Buffalo Group on a deal which expanded its operations into the printing sector.

Manchester-based Buffalo Group has bought Open Date Equipment Ltd for an undisclosed sum in a deal advised by the Manchester office of law firm Ward Hadaway.

The Buffalo Group already operates companies in a number of sectors in the engineering field, including Greenwood Lonsdale, Heavey Engineering, Derbyshire Castings, Evridge Precision Engineering, Unicorn Self-Drive and Beverley Environmental.

The acquisition of Open Date Equipment Ltd represents a first move into the printing industry for the Buffalo Group.

The UK arm of the company is based in Mitcham in Surrey and Open Date also has operations in the US, France and Germany and a network of agents across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. In total Open Date employs 45 people worldwide.

Ward Hadaway corporate finance partner Melanie Yeomans led the firm’s team with assistance from employment partner David Parry.

She said: “It has been a pleasure to work with managing director Ian Hogg and his team at Buffalo to secure the acquisition of Open Date.”
