Motor retailers Vertu have created new North East jobs through the opening of a multi-million pound dealership.
Vertu, which trades as Bristol Street Motors, has opened its new dealership on Scotswood Road, Newcastle, after transforming the former Audi site.
The new outlet – a multi-brand site selling new Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep cars as well as used vehicles, will be managed by Dax Pearce, the former general manager for rival Benfield.
The new dealership increases Vertu Motors’ portfolio to 111 sales and aftersales outlets and the company said the new addition, which creates up to 30 new jobs, will compliment the group’s Vauxhall dealership also based on Scotswood Road.
The site includes an aftersales department with fully qualified technicians and it will also be an approved Motability franchise, with a Motability specialist.
Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu Motors said: “We are continuing to develop the group by adding to existing franchise relationships as well as exploring new manufacturer partners.
“This prestigious new dealership will enhance our presence in Newcastle, where we already operate a successful Honda site and boost our partnership with Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep.”
On Monday the business released a pre-close trading update to the stock market, in which it said the group has continued to trade in line with market expectations.
