Tyne Bank Brewery is hoping its latest lager will take off – after creating a brew for the launch of new Jet2.com flights from Newcastle.
Passengers were treated to a taste of Jet Brewed, a Croatian-style pilsner tinted in the airline’s colours using Cara Red malt, as they checked in for the inaugural service to Pula.
“It went down unbelievably well,” said brewery managing director Julia Austin, “and we had really positive feedback.”
Founded by the former Arizona Chemicals production manager in June 2011, Tyne Bank Brewery has grown to employ four full-time staff, and a part-time delivery driver, and supply pubs as far afield as London and Edinburgh.
But Austin hopes the Jet2.com tie-up will help raise the Byker-based business’ profile internationally.
To coincide with the route’s launch pubs – including the Tap and Spile at Hexham, The Free Trade Inn in Byker, and The Brandling Villa in Gosforth - are holding Pula Pint Week offering customers the chance to win a pair of return flights to Pula, a brewery tour, or a case of beer.
