Rising TV star, entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den graduate Max McMurdo is coming to the region to inspire small businesses.

Mr McMurdo will be speaking at the Redcar and Cleveland Business Forum, organised by the Enterprise Team, a group providing advice and support to more than 200 companies7908537  across the borough.

He is the owner of highly-successful furniture upcycling company ‘reestore’, set up in 2003 after being concerned about mass consumption in the economy.

Famous for his shopping trolley chairs and the Formula 1 wheel coffee table, Max’s innovation has inspired a generation of upcyclers.

Since then he has appeared on Dragons’ Den where he secured investment from Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis.

He has also hosted Channel 4’s summer hit Shed of The Year and featured in Kirstie’s Fill Your House For Free.

He said: “We all have to start somewhere and being an entrepreneur can be tricky at first, but with determination, passion and will you can get your business anywhere you want.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting all the local businesses and - fingers crossed - the story of my journey will inspire people.”

The Enterprise Team is made up of skilled business coaches, and is focused on helping companies in Redcar and Cleveland to achieve their goals, including moving premises, increasing their turnover and improving profitability.

The scheme offers Redcar and Cleveland businesses at least 12 hours of free tailored support and in the last year more than 200 companies have been helped, leading to the creation of more than 150 jobs.

The Redcar and Cleveland Business Forum takes place at Tuned In, Redcar, on October 21, at 5pm. Book free tickets by visiting
