North East tissue maker SCA has been named one of the world’s most ethical companies.
It is the eighth year in a row the Prudhoe-based manufacturer of Velvet toilet tissue, and other products, has secured the listing.
The recognition comes from the Ethisphere Institute – a body which champions ethical business practices around the world.
The World’s Most Ethical Companies rankings recognise companies who demonstrate top transparency, integrity, ethics and compliance.
Ethisphere Institute chief executive officer Timothy Erblich said: “SCA joins an exclusive community committed to driving performance through leading business practices. We congratulate everyone at SCA for this extraordinary achievement.”
Sustainable management of resources is a key part of SCA’s strategy and the company is the largest private forest owner in Europe.
Timber from SCA’s own 2.6 million hectares of forest accounts for around half of the group’s total wood consumption.
Prudhoe Mill site manager Richard Sutcliffe said: “SCA places strong emphasis on corporate responsibility and we are honoured to be named one of the world’s most ethical companies for the eighth consecutive year.
“This recognition reflects the trust we strive to earn each day from our customers, consumers and business partners, and how our employees manage our operations in a responsible way.”
