Football shirt makers TOFFS are ready to pitch in to the World Cup after receiving financial backing from Barclays.

Gateshead-based business The Old Fashioned Football Shirt Company (TOFFS) has restructured its finances through Barclays Business, the small business arm of the global financial services provider, following an economic review of the company.

Based on the Team Valley, the 22-strong firm was established in 1990 by Alan and Michele Finch and manufactures replica and specialist promotions football shirts and it is now targeting overseas markets, with the funding in place.

Michele Finch, joint partner in the £1m turnover firm, said: “It’s taken a lot of hard work on all sides but we have fully restructured our finances and are looking forward to the World Cup.”
