A County Durham-based specialist maintenance and repair firm is set for further growth, particularly in the public sector, after achieving a major equality and diversity accreditation.
Stone Technical Services Group (STS), which saw turnover increase steadily last year to over £2m, has received accredited status on the National Equality Register, an independent initiative specifically designed to promote equal opportunities in the workplace.
Stone, which created five jobs last year, bringing its total number of employees to 35, was assessed by Equality Accreditation Services.
It sees its latest accolade as demonstrating its ongoing commitment to and awareness of equality and diversity within the workplace and the commercial environment, which will not only apply to staff development and recruitment, but will assist the business when going through tendering processes, especially in the public sector.
Managing director Dave Stone said: “Good equality and diversity practices are fundamental for any business and have been part of our company ethos for many years. However, this accreditation makes our ongoing commitment official and shows that we’re both a conscientious employer and a conscientious contractor.
“It’s an important accreditation for us to have especially when we are competing for work in the public sector as it demonstrates how we fully understand and respect all client needs.”
