Nationwide bus company Stagecoach has appointed a new operations director to its North East fleet.

Matthew Cranwell has joined the head office in Sunderland, where he will oversee the everyday operations of the company by working closely with operations managers at each of its six depots.

Cranwell originally joined Stagecoach nine years ago through the company’s graduate training programme, which saw him work at three different depots and five Stagecoach companies around the country, building up his experience and knowledge of the industry from the bottom up.

He said: “I’m currently reviewing processes and operations to assess what works and what can be further improved on to take the company from strength to strength.”

Phil Medlicott, managing director, added: “Matthew brings with him some great, fresh ideas that will help ensure Stagecoach North East moves forward to the next level. He has a strong team behind him.”
