Space Architects has made four internal promotions within its Newcastle-based team as it takes forward a diverse range of projects, from schools to care homes.

Paul Broadfoot, who joined the company in 2005 at graduate level, was been appointed as associate director at the national design business.

His new role will involve the management of a project team as a group leader.

Carinna Gebhard and David Wise, meanwhile, have both been promoted to associate architects, while Nick Craggs, who has been with the business since 2006, has taken on a senior architect position, working on housing schemes in the region.

Mr Broadfoot said: “It’s been a busy start to the year for us here at Space which has made for a challenging but motivational time.

“Therefore to be a part of this recent set of promotions is hugely rewarding and I’m looking forward to taking on the responsibility which comes with it to drive the business ahead in 2015 and beyond.”

Space Architects is one of eight companies within Space Group, which also includes the likes of BIM Technologies, White Label and rethink.it.

Space Group chief executive Rob Charlton said: “We have a wide range of exciting projects which demonstrates the diversity of the current market, and each of the four appointments have excelled in their specialism to bring these projects to the fore.

“While Paul’s heading up some work with schools, our Care portfolio is expanding with sheltered housing schemes and the Quality Homes for Older People – where David takes a lead.

“Paul, Carinna and Nick between them have totalled over thirty years with the business and it is this home grown talent that Space Group prides itself on and will be the Generation Y to lead the industry’s future.”
