Facilities management specialist HLA Services hopes to boost turnover and headcount by 10% this year after announcing significant expansion.

Set up in 2003, HLA was originally based in Sunderland but in 2009 moved to larger, 5,000 sq ft premises in Boldon to accommodate its increasing workforce.

The firm's contracts include Nissan, Caterpillar and Newcastle International Airport.

Specialising in facilities support, which incorporates heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services, the firm has expanded its 100-strong team with the addition of three new staff.

Tony Walsh, Gary Jones and Dave Allen have joined the team as air conditioning and refrigeration engineer, air conditioning and heating engineer, and manager, respectively.

As well as swelling the ranks the company has opened its second regional office in Middlesbrough, allowing the firm to service clients in the southern area of the region.

The office will also provide support to the Boldon-based head office, which oversees the management the company’s regional and national accounts.

Neil Henry, service director at HLA Services said: “We are delighted to welcome Tony, Gary and Dave to the team at what promises to be a very exciting time for the business.

“All three boast a wealth of knowledge, with over 70 years’ experience between them, and will help us build on the strong service offering that we are renowned for.

“The opening of our Middlesbrough office will help us firmly establish HLA Services in the south of the region and allow us provide an even better service to clients in this area, as they will now have additional engineers located in close proximity to their offices. Our Boldon base will continue to act as our head office and provide support to our growing national client base and those based in the north of the region.”

HLA Services, which now employs over 100 staff, ended its last financial year with its highest ever turnover of £8m and in this financial quarter it has experienced a further 10% increase in growth and is hoping to further build on last year’s success.

Over the next 12 months the company hopes to increase its workforce and turnover by a further 10% cent this year, with plans to recruit additional staff and apprentices in the near future.

Mr Henry said: “We have experienced a fantastic rate of growth over the last few years and we hope that this pattern will continue in the future. In 2014 alone we have created 11 jobs, which we feel is a huge achievement given the current economic climate. With over half of the year still to go we are confident that this number will continue to increase.”

Incorporated in 2003, HLA Services Ltd was originally located in Sunderland but in 2009 moved to larger, 5,000 sq ft premises in Boldon to accommodate for its increasing workforce.

One of its key growth areas in recent years has been renewables and the environment, as it is able to offer green and energy efficient systems including biomass boilers, solar panels and energy efficient lighting.
