A regional snapshot of business confidence will be measured when the North East’s leading manufacturing grouping meets this month.
Members of the South Tyneside Manufacturing Forum (STMF) are expected to reveal an optimistic picture showing green shoots of economic recovery and the recession receding at their monthly event, which takes place on Wednesday, March 19.
Cameron Ross, the region’s team leader for the Government-funded Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS), which offers support to small and medium-sized firms, will be present to take a barometer reading of opinion.
He will report his findings to the MAS nationally, which in turn will add his data to its major England-wide quarterly study.
Its last report, covering September to December, found 86% of firms were planning to invest in the next 12 months to meet an expected upsurge in demand for their products.
The STMF will meet at One Trinity Green, South Shields, from 12pm to 2pm.
