A North East firm winning major contracts as quickly as it is recruiting new staff is among six regional business champions competing at this year’s British Chambers of Commerce Awards.

Engineering design specialists, Nortech Solutions, will be vying for the Most Promising New Business accolade at the national awards, after claiming a similar honour at the North East Business Awards earlier in the year. The Wynyard Park firm will be on the North East Chamber of Commerce table at the London ceremony on November 28.

Nortech Solutions will be joined by Derwentside Homes, Atomhawk Design, Elddis Transport, Guardian Marine Technology and Andrew Moffatt of Port of Tyne in the NECC delegation.

Nortech Solutions has demonstrated rapid growth in turnover, profit and employment since it was formed in April 2011, and has created 86 new jobs in its first two years.

The company provides engineering design and project management service for a range of industries and contracts including iron and steel manufacturing, oil and gas onshore and offshore, petrochemical and energy.

Its founder Bryan Bunn, who was shortlisted for the Teesside Business Executive of the Year award, said: “Having secured a string of high-value contracts with blue chip firms, Nortech has gone from strength to strength and now boasts a motivated, highly-skilled workforce committed to continuing to push the boundaries of engineering design.”
