THE North East's largest motor group has announced a new-look board of directors.
Benfield’s former managing director Nigel McMinn has been promoted to chief executive while present chief executive Mark Squires has been named executive chairman.
This reshuffle follows the recent appointments of Gerard Murray to financial director and Neville Gaukroger to strategic development director.
It also follows hot on the heels of Benfield’s recent growth including the buy-out of North East Audi from Colebrook and Burgess, a £5m Ford development in Sunderland and the opening of the UK’s first standalone Maserati showroom in Newcastle.
Squires said: “The promotion of Nigel McMinn to chief executive is a significant appointment for us and thoroughly deserved.
“Nigel has made a tremendous contribution since joining us six years ago. His drive and passion for the business are infectious and at the heart of a leadership style which will spur our ambitions and translate our development plans into reality.”
Benfield is a family-owned business founded in Newcastle in 1957 by John Squires Senior and developed by John Squires Junior who will continue to chair the supervisory board.
It has 34 retail outlets throughout the North East, Yorkshire, Cumbria and south west Scotland.
