Newcastle Building Society (NBS) has made two appointments to its board, including a former senior partner at KPMG’s Newcastle operation.
Karen Ingham and Richard Bottomley OBE have joined the Society as non-executive directors.
Mr Bottomley, a former senior partner at KPMG’s Newcastle office and a president of the NECC in 2008, has more than 25 years experience in corporate finance and strategy.
Latterly he has worked as a financial and business advisor to a range of organisations.
2011 he was awarded OBE in the New Year’s Honours for services to accountancy and business in the North East.
Ms Ingham is currently the director for Customer Services within Virgin Media, responsible for all front line operations.
The former customer experience director at Orange also has significant experience of the financial services sector having held a variety of key roles at Co-operative Bank.
Phil Moorhouse, NBS’ chairman, said: “Both the reputations and expertise of our new non-executive directors make the appointments significant ones for the Society and without doubt complement the experience we already have on the board.”
