Santander has opened a new branch in South Shields as part of the bank’s multi-million pound investment in its branch network and commitment to local communities.
The firm, the third biggest bank in the UK in terms of deposits with in excess of 25 million customers, arrives as work continues on South Shields 365 – a 10-year plan to regenerate the town.
The branch will serve the local community as well as Santander branches in the wider geographic area. Branch manager Tracy Harris said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for Santander to finally be opening a branch in South Shields, and we are looking forward to building relationships with local businesses and personal customers and supporting the community with charity fundraising.”
Martin Bischoff, managing director, retail distribution, at Santander said: “We are really pleased to be opening a new branch of Santander in South Shields.
“We’ve wanted a branch in the town for some time, so this is a great step forward for us. As well as providing banking services to people and businesses in the area, we bring a strong community ethic with us and look forward to developing a close relationship with South Shields.”
