Ryecroft Glenton, one of the North East’s largest independent firms of chartered accountants and business advisors, has secured the services of one of the sector’s most respected young practitioners with the appointment of a new senior tax manager.

Charlie Foster has relocated to the North East after spending three years with London-based financial services group, Ingenious, where she advised on all taxation matters across the group, including those affecting its investment products in the media, live entertainment and clean energy sectors.

As a member of Ryecroft Glenton’s Tax Department, she will provide the firm’s extensive client base with tailored corporate, personal and partnership tax advisory services.

Miss Foster will also support the firm’s Corporate Finance Service Line, making use of her expertise in the corporate and transactional tax field. In her previous role, Charlie advised teams working in the investments, ventures and asset management areas of the business.

Established in 1967 by senior partner Tony Glenton and his uncle, Ryecroft Glenton, now headquartered in Portland Terrace, Newcastle, has expanded significantly over the years.

The business now also has offices in Northumberland and North Tyneside, with 15 partners specialising in tax, corporate finance, business services, audit and assurance.

Prior to joining Ingenious, Miss Foster, who has a First Class Honours Degree from the University of St Andrews, was a Chartered Tax Advisor at KPMG, where she also qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

She has travelled extensively and, having lived in Brazil, Hong Kong and Singapore, speaks several languages, helping her to work closely with international clients and colleagues in overseas offices.

Miss Foster said: “The North East is a vibrant and diverse region and this role will be the start of a fresh and challenging new chapter in my career.

“Ryecroft Glenton has an impressive reputation in the North East for its personal and corporate tax expertise and I am keen to help develop the practice and apply my skills to support our clients’ requirements.”

Chris Robson, managing partner at Ryecroft Glenton, said: “Charlie’s appointment is a clear indication of our commitment to attracting and retaining talented and skilled people.

“She complements the home-grown talent we have in the practice and proves that excellent businesses can not only keep high quality people in the North East, but can make themselves an attractive destination for those living and working outside the region.

“Charlie’s expertise and experience will make her a real asset to our practice-wide tax planning service and our expanding corporate finance department.”
