Research tax relief at Hartlepool event

BUSINESSES are being urged to find out more about the tax credits available for research and development (R&D).

BUSINESSES are being urged to find out more about the tax credits available for research and development (R&D).

An event is being held today in Hartlepool for innovative firms in the Tees Valley, organised by accountants and business advisors Clive Owen & Co LLP and UK Steel Enterprise Ltd.

It will focus on the tax relief available on what firms spend on R&D, and what kind of work is eligible for the credits.

Clive Owen & Co LLP’s senior partner, Clive Owen, said: “We’ve found many businesses are carrying out innovative work without even realising it.

“These tax breaks give businesses the opportunity to develop ideas into reality and to support their growth and the economy of the North East.”

The firm has also set up a business partnership with Teesside University to promote the R&D scheme further and use the university’s research, teaching and business expertise to encourage North East companies to go for the tax breaks.

The event takes place at UK Steel Enterprise’s offices at Hartlepool Innovation Centre.
