TESCO is due to open its 1.2m sq ft distribution warehouse at Teesport. The 300,000 sq ft import centre represents an investment of £50m. The supermarket giant’s site at Teesport, will create 800 jobs
THE green light has been given to a £100m urban renewal project at Darlington’s Lingfield Point business park. It will include 1,200 ecohomes, sports facilities, local shops and restaurants, a medical centre and school as well as artists’ studios and allotments.
WORK has begun on phase two of an office development which will form part of one of the region’s major regeneration schemes. Redevelopment chiefs say the Terrace Hill project at Hudson Quay 2 - part of its Manhattan Gate development in Middlesbrough - showed the £1.167bn Middlehaven project remained on course. The new office block, the second of five to be built by property development and investment group Terrace Hill, has been fully pre-let to Middlesbrough Primary Care Trust and follows Hertel’s recent relocation to Hudson Quay 1. Hudson Quay 2 will provide 38,500sq ft of premier office accommodation.
PETS at Home has opened an 8,100sq ft store at the Cleveland Retail Park in Middlesbrough - creating nine jobs. Meanwhile, retailer Peacocks’ has also opened a store at the retail park, creating 19 jobs.
REDCAR has seen department store chain Yorkshire Trading Company take a 15-year lease on the former Woolworths store seven months after the iconic retailer moved out of the town. Meanwhile, DIY specialists Leveys is also taking on a 329sq m unit.

PLANNING permission has been given for the £320m North Shore development, being led by Tees Valley Regeneration, which will include new homes, a business park, hotel accommodation, leisure and retail facilities, a healthcare facility and car dealership.
MIDDLESBROUGH’S £10m Boho One - a key part of a 25-year vision to form a world-class digital cluster on Teesside - opened its doors. The site recently announced it had secured pre-letting agreements with at least three creative firms who are relocating from the south of England.
MIDDLESBROUGH-BASED developer Python Properties has added the UK’s biggest retailer to its portfolio as Tesco becomes its latest tenant. Tesco Express has taken the ground floor of Python Properties’ award-winning Co-operative building - allowing the retailer to open a 6,000sq ft store in Middlesbrough’s town centre.
