THE Priory Group, the addictions clinic favoured by under pressure celebrities, is coming to Darlington.
The UK’s leading independent provider of acute mental health and education services is creating up to 50 jobs in the town at its finance department.
Priory’s existing back office finance function will relocate and the company is actively recruiting for a number of different finance and administrative positions to support its existing operations and growth plans.
The group acquired Affinity Healthcare, which already operated the Middleton St George hospital, earlier this year and is particularly expanding in the elderly care sector and the specialist education market.
The company is developing a range of high quality care homes offering long-term, short-term and respite nursing care for older people who are physically frail or living with dementia- related disorders.
Priory Care Homes currently operates eight homes in England and Northern Ireland with plans for a similar number to open before the end of 2010 and more than double this by the end of 2011.
Jason Lock, chief financial officer at Priory Group, said: “This move demonstrates our confidence in the North-east and commitment to the area and our determination to use our property asset base to the best effect.
“This is a meaningful inward investment for the region from a national business that has traditionally been associated with the South of England.”
