FINANCIAL services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers is celebrating 100 years in Newcastle with the promotion of 18 members of staff.

The moves affect managers and senior managers across its assurance, tax, deal and consulting businesses, further strengthening the local practice.

They follow the recent promotion of Lee Stamp and Tom Yeates to directorships, within the firm’s private client tax team and assurance practice respectively.

Stamp began his career with PwC at the firm’s Edinburgh before returning to his native North East in 2007 to join the private client tax team in Newcastle, which he will now lead. Yeates, who joined PwC in Newcastle in 2004 after five years of training in London, will be taking on the role of assurance director. He has experience of auditing and advising companies across many sectors, and has a particular specialism in large multinational listed companies.

Paul Woolston, senior partner at PwC Newcastle, said: “These promotions help reaffirm PwC’s position as one of the leading professional services firms in the North East.

“The Newcastle office has a strong identity in the region and this year we are celebrating 100 years in the North East.

“We pride ourselves on developing our staff and rewarding and retaining our talent.”
