Phil Wrigley has been appointed operations director at the Lynemouth smelter of aluminium company Alcan.

PHIL WRIGLEY  has been appointed operations director at the Lynemouth smelter of aluminium company Alcan. Before this, he spent three years as European operations director for seven Rohm and Haas sites across Europe and South Africa.

Having worked for ICI in Teesside for more than five years, Hickson and Welsh Chemicals in Castleford and Rohm and Haas for 10 years - Phil brings over 17 years of manufacturing experience to his new position.

IAN WILLANS has joined Ellis Bates Financial Solutions Ltd (previously known in Newcastle as Berry Stainsby & Walker) in the role of tax consultant, a new position in the company.

Ian has over 40 years of taxation experience. During his career, he has worked for three of the largest firms of chartered accountants in the UK, giving him an enviable technical background and breadth of experience.

For the past 20 years, Ian has specialised in all aspects of business and personal tax planning."

JUNE MOORE has been appointed head of marketing at the Aspers casino in the Gate centre in Newcastle. June, who is from Northern Ireland and now lives in Monkseaton, comes to Aspers with a strong marketing background, having spent almost three years as head of marketing and business development at York Royal Theatre, before most recently taking on the role of marketing and engagement manager at Northumberland County Council.

Newcastle-based brand technology company Th_nk has appointed ANDREA FARNSWORTH as account director to oversee the company's latest client wins and cement relationships with its existing blue chip client base.

Andrea, 35, who lives in Low Fell, Gateshead, joins TH_NK with over 10 years of experience in the IT sector, most recently a six-year stint at Doxford Park rival the Leighton Group, where she worked as account manager, overseeing high-profile clients such as Tourism Australia, Burtons Foods and Sunderland University.

JONATHAN McGHIE , a former pupil at Durham Cathedral's ancient Chorister School, is the new sales director for SCA's Tissue Europe Division, covering the UK and Ireland. He will be based at the company's commercial centre in Skelmersdale, West Lancashire.

Born in Cleadon, South Tyneside, Jonathan has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing positions with leading national and international companies, including RHM Foods Ltd and Unigate Dairies.

In his new role, Jonathan will be responsible for managing SCA's retail partnerships throughout the UK and Ireland with supermarket giants such as Asda, Tesco and Morrisons.

Training and personal development company Aurora Training has appointed PHIL WIGGINS as sales director. The move sees an expansion of the Nicola Cook group which Phil joined in January, following eight successful years as a sales manager with Bang & Olufsen, where he received several awards including UK Salesperson of the Year and UK Store of the Year.

Newcastle-based Robinson Landscape Design has announced the promotion of USUE RUIZ-ARANA to the position of associate. Usue joined RLD six years ago after graduating from Newcastle University and she played an instrumental role in RLD's success in the BilbaoJardin 2007 competition.

The practice has also welcomed new starter BEN CROSS , a second-year honours student in architectural studies at Newcastle University. Prior to joining RLD, he was a professional photographer.
