BUSINESS law firm DWF has appointed Watson Burton’s intellectual property (IP) partner, ED MEIKLE to its Newcastle office, strengthening the firm’s IP offering in the North East and throughout the UK.
Ed is a well-regarded specialist working on contentious and non contentious IP matters – recognised as an expert in advising on the development, management and protection of brands and technology. He is particularly well known for his sector expertise in sport, retail, education and transport.
His clients have included UK and multinational businesses, including Premier League football clubs, FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies, alongside education institutions and fast-growth SMEs.

RICHARD HUTCHINSON, 39, from Durham, has been appointed to the role of environment and energy Leader, responsible for the company’s manufacturing, recycling and distribution operations in Prudhoe.
He brings more than 14 years of knowledge and experience to the role, having worked for Austrian-owned wood-based panel manufacturers, EGGER in Hexham, MD Foods in Longbenton and Arla Foods UK plc throughout the UK, home to some of the UK’s leading dairy brands including Lurpak and Cravendale.
Richard specialises in quality management, safety, health and environment. At SCA he will provide strategic energy and environmental management expertise. His responsibilities include data gathering, interpretation of legislation and reporting of energy and waste usage in accordance with Government targets.
