Northumbrian Water Group has been hailed as one of the most responsible firms in the UK after winning a double hat-trick of awards from Business in the Community.
An awards ceremony held in Gateshead’s Lancastrian Suite saw the Newcastle-based firm win six certificates, including a reaccreditation of one of Business in the Community’s (BITC) coveted national Big Ticks for its education work.
It also won employee volunteering company of the Year, a Platinum Plus Big Tick, honour of climate change champion and a Platinum Plus Big Tick in the Responsible Business of the Year Awards, a national award.
The firm now goes head-to-head with 10 other organisations to have won the Responsible Business accolade at regional level, at the national BITC awards at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the firm said: “It’s a massive achievement for us and we are thrilled. It’s such a huge effort and it shows how we do business.”
Business in the Community’s flagship annual award celebrates large businesses that are going beyond incremental change and effecting transformational change.
