Only the cream of the region’s exporters will go head-to-head for the top gong at the North East Exporter’s Awards 2015.

The awards are becoming one of the North East’s largest celebrations of exporting success – and the Overall Exporter Award is its most coveted title.

Winners of key export awards throughout the year – as well as the shortlisted winners from each of the 2015 North East Exporter’s Awards categories – will compete, to make sure the accolade genuinely highlights the best of the best.

This includes the export awards winners from the North East Business Awards.

Last year’s Overall Exporter winner was A-Belco Ltd, which also walked off with the SME Exporter Award.

The Ashington-based company specialises in explosion-proof electrical equipment and has made significant inroads into the oil and gas industry.

Its hazardous area floodlight was the world’s first of its kind and has virtually become an industry standard since being developed in 2010. The device has been used on a major energy plant in Australia.

The next challenge for the company is to build on its worldwide distributor network, particularly in high growth markets such as South America and Vietnam.

Seven awards will be presented at the North East Exporters’ dinner on June 25 – and with an entries deadline of May 1, there’s still time to take part.

Presented by a partnership of the North East Chamber of Commerce, UKTI, HSBC, PD Ports and ncjMedia, the awards last year saw entries almost double compared to previous years – helping the partnership achieve its aim of becoming the number one export awards for the region.
