North East charity The Percy Hedley Foundation has once again launched Challenge 500, a fundraising initiative which last year generated £50,000 to support services for disabled people and their families.

Organisations that wish to compete are given £500 each and six months to execute their own fundraising plans. They then give back the money, along with additional funds.

Last year, one company held a successful Night at the Museum event and, with firms including DB Regio, Gordon Brown Law Firm, ITPS, Isos Housing and Northern Gas Networks having already signed up this time, organisers are hopeful of more innovative ideas. The team that raises the most money will be recognised for its efforts at a business breakfast.

Julie Calvert, head of marketing, communications and income generation at the Foundation said: “All we ask is that the seed fund is returned to us what they get up to is legal, ethical and moral! And this year we’re delighted that The Journal has agreed to be our media partner.”

Nickie Gott, managing director of She’s Gott It! and chair of the North East Chamber of Commerce Women’s Advisory Board will be promoting the challenge. To sign up, visit www.percyhedley.org.uk or call Sheila Coltman on 0191 238 1321.
