A fast-growing maternity brand that secured angel investment from several of the North East’s most high profile businesswomen has been listed by one of the UK’s most renowned high street retailers.

House of Fraser has officially launched the Bibee Maternity clothing range and will be showcasing its new collection on its website.

The fashion brand was backed by seven angel investors at Newcastle-based Gabriel Investors last December, with County Durham retail entrepreneur Sara Davies from Crafter’s Companion as a lead investor.

Since the six-figure backing, Mrs Davies has worked closely with brand founder Nicola Norris on the company’s board, to accelerate growth.

As a result Bibee Maternity has expanded its product range to a full range of maternity wear, enhanced its online presence at bibeematernity.com and driven distribution in high profile retailers like premium department brand House of Fraser.

Bibee Maternity was founded by Nicola Norris in 2011 and aims to provide stylish, functional and versatile fashion to women while pregnant and breast-feeding – and Mrs Davies herself wore the range while she was pregnant with her son.

Business adviser and former senior partner at Watson Burton LLP, Gillian Hall, is also non-executive chairman and investor at Bibee Maternity.

Sara Davies, shareholder at Bibee Maternity, said: “House of Fraser is very much the home of the latest styles and trends in fashion so will be a great fit for Bibee Maternity.

“Teaming up with this renowned department store will undoubtedly cement the brand’s place as one of the UK’s leading maternity brands.”

Nicola Norris established Bibee in 2011 after she fell pregnant and, frustrated with the options available on the high street, decided to launch her own range of maternity wear.
