A hair and beauty salon in Newcastle has beaten off competition to scoop a top North East award.

Family-run At Sisters Hair and Beauty received the Service Network’s Culture of Success Award, in a ceremony at Newcastle’s Boulevard club.

The Pink Lane salon, which was initially set up as The Hair Cabin in 1975, became At Sisters in 2007.

The awards, in their 10th year, give credit to companies of all sizes based on innovation.

They are open to any firm and showcase the expertise, talent and passion in the region over the past year. The business was also highly commended for the Small Award as it “identified new revenue streams, and diversified the services they offer, to successfully generate new business”.

Founder Margaret Emmonds, said: “We’re thrilled to have been recognised for valuing and developing our employees. There’s a lot of young creative talent in the salon and it can only improve when it’s nurtured.

“We have invested significantly in our staff, who have excelled this year, achieving significant personal growth, thanks to the fantastic training opportunities they’ve had.”
