A Tyneside digital agency is expanding after securing a series of deals, including a three-year contract to transform UK cinema giant Vue Entertainment’s digital channels.

Newcastle-based TH_NK, which currently employs 70 people, is planning to add a further 10 people to its rapidly-expanding team by recruiting more developers, following a hat-trick of recent business.

As well as winning contracts with Britvic and Durham-based Atom Bank, TH_NK has just been appointed as lead digital agency for Vue Entertainment, the leading global exhibitor with 83 cinemas across the UK and Ireland, to carry out a major overhaul of its desktop web, tablet and mobile offerings.

The firm, which already counts Warner Bros, Nando’s, Toyota, and Audi among its customers, has been enlisted to create “a much more anticipatory, engaging and seamless user experience”, by overseeing everything from film information to times and ticketing, and much more.

The lucrative partnership, made for an undisclosed amount and extending over the next three years, comes after the agency beat a host of other businesses following a detailed competitive pitch process.

Vue Group operates 1,741 screens at 187 state-of-the-art multiplex cinema locations in nine countries, namely the UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy and Taiwan, and the contract will see TH_NK cover the firm’s digital channels in the UK and Ireland.

Tarek Nseir, chief executive at TH_NK, which also has a base in London, said he and the team were looking forward to giving Vue’s customers the star treatment across every touch-point.

He said: “There is a huge opportunity for Vue to take a much more anticipatory role in their digital communication, to give customers what they need in the most helpful way possible.

“Together we will create amazing work that has the potential to completely disrupt the cinema market.

“With a large portion of the work being delivered out of our Newcastle office, we’re also proud to be contributing to the exciting growth in digital in the North East.”

Vue Entertainment’s commercial director Dominic Rowell added: “For the last 12 years Vue has been committed to delivering the best and most innovative experience in the industry.

“As we continue to grow, our intention is to place even greater emphasis on surprising and delighting our customers through both offline and online experiences.

“Our brand, our people and technology will be pivotal to this.

“In TH_NK we have appointed a highly skilled partner who shares our energy and ambition to deliver on this intent.”
