A new tenancy technology company has been set up in Newcastle following a £1m investment, creating more than 20 new jobs.
OnBoard Pro Ltd has been established in Newburn Riverside by the people behind software firm SGP Consulting and will employ around 22 people initially, rising to 30 in the coming months.
The business offers a range of services to the rental property market and plans to reach clients across the UK, targeting the 3,300 agents, most of whom are based in the major cities of London, Birmingham and Manchester.
The firm, launched with £1m of private sector investment, gives letting agents tools to check the suitability of tenants, record detailed photographic inventories, submit gas and electricity meter readings, starting dates for local council tax and produce signed contracts.
Ian Thomas, sales and marketing director at OnBoard Pro, said: “We know the rental property market is a minefield, one which is both complicated and time consuming for agents, landlords and tenants alike.
“OnBoard Pro will simplify things for everyone involved, making the process more transparent, faster, fairer, more robust and cheaper. We’ve conducted a huge amount of research into the market and are confident that the model we’ve come up with will work.”
Stephen Purvis, chief executive of OnBoard Pro, said: “This new company is going to be a major player within the private rental market by providing a solution to what is quite frankly a stressful and tedious process for all parties involved.
“And let’s not forget this is great news for the North East. We’re investing significant sums of money and will create more than 30 highly skilled jobs with the potential for further growth as we go.
“Being from the region I’m extremely proud that we’re able to launch OnBoard Pro here, a national company which will stand alongsidesome of the biggest names in the lettings market.”
