A Teesside clothes shop is undergoing a revamp.

River Island is carrying out a month-long re-fit of its Linthorpe Road store in Middlesbrough.

The shop is currently closed while work takes place to restyle both floors of the national chain store.

A company spokeswoman said: "This will create a new store that will serve to epitomise the brand's design ethos and provide a modern and forward thinking environment in which to shop using an eclectic combination of retro and contemporary materials."

The company declined to comment on the level of investment in the re-fit.

The two-storey outlet, which comprises a 2,760sq ft ladies' ground floor and a 2,395sq ft men's first floor, will re-open on July 3.

The store is one of several high street chain outlets carrying out refurbishment work or relocating in Middlesbrough town centre.

Boots chemists is expanding while clothes store Republic has moved to a new site in the Cleveland Centre.
