New mileage challenge for charity

THE winner of a motoring challenge among the local business community has received a £500 cheque for their chosen charity.

THE winner of a motoring challenge among the local business community has received a £500 cheque for their chosen charity.

The Mileage Challenge, set by Minories Toyota Wearside and the North East Chamber of Commerce, involved driving a Toyota Auris Hybrid over a set test route with the driver achieving the highest miles per gallon (MPG) during April and May winning the £500.

Gary Aitchison, the business centre manager for Minories Wearside and Durham, presented the winner’s cheque to Patricia Boynton. It was made out to Butterwick Hospice, Patricia’s chosen charity.

Patricia said: “It was great fun completing the Mileage Challenge and it certainly brought out the competitive edge in me as I was determined to win for my charity.”

The £500 cheque, courtesy of Toyota GB and Minories Group, was awarded after Patricia’s MPG was recorded at an impressive 87.8.

Due to the popularity and success of the Hybrid Mileage Challenge, Minories Toyota Wearside is currently running a second Mileage Challenge.

Anyone wishing to challenge their driving skills and have some fun in doing so should contact Gary Aitchison on 0191 549 1277 to book their place.
