A SOUTH Tyneside financial adviser has brought in a medical finance expert to launch the first scheme of its kind in the UK.
Hanson Wealth Management appointed Eamonn Gallagher, who spent 17 years in the medical finance sector advising doctors, dentists, surgeons and nurses, to head its new national financial advice service for doctors and nurses. It follows the business’s link-up with the Police Federation to provide advice for serving and retired police officers.
The medical service has been launched at a time when NHS pensions come under increasing pressure.
Mr Gallagher said: “There are 1.3m workers in the NHS across the UK and every one of them is facing big changes to their pension.
“Health workers need to be taking specialist independent advice and we are the first company to offer this kind of expertise wholesale to the entire medical profession.
“In my experience of advising doctors, dentists and other health workers over the years, one of the biggest reasons they give for not looking at their finances is time and they just let things drift.”
Hanson Wealth Management currently advises more than 10,000 private individuals in the UK as well as thousands of police officers through its link up with the Police Federation.
