Mediaworks growth takes another surge

Digital marketing agency Mediaworks is set for expansion after winning a contract with global online gambling giant BetClic, adding two heavyweight directors to its board and opening a new office in London.

The fast-growing Gateshead firm has been enlisted by BetClic, one of the world’s biggest online betting businesses, to help grow its international presence through search marketing services.

The company, which expects to grow its workforce by 30 to 100 in the next 12 months, has also opened a new office in Shoreditch, London, with a capacity for around 20 staff, having previously operated a satellite office in the Capital.

Meanwhile, Marc Russell has joined Mediaworks as operations director from Th_nk where he was one of the most prominent figures in the rise of the digital agency.

At the same time, Graham Dotchin has been appointed as finance director, having previously served as commercial director of North-East pharmaceutical success story SCM Pharma. A significant part of his role at Mediaworks will be to build on the group’s international client roster, which already includes the likes of Travelex, Eversheds and Alfred Dunhill.

Dotchin said: “Being a rapidly expanding, ambitious and professional company that operates in a current, relevant and high growth sector made Mediaworks instantly attractive to me.

“While this is a change in industry for me, like SCM Pharma, Mediaworks is an SME with huge potential and ambition.”

Mediaworks has been on a rapid growth spurt since its inception in 2007 and has doubled in size every year for the past four years. Managing director Brett Jacobson said: “Marc and Graham join us at an exciting time for the company, as we continue to build a strong base of national and international clients and grow our workforce.

“Their expertise will enable us to raise our game and put in systems that allow us to become more agile and efficient, while making sure our expansion runs smoothly.”

Mediaworks was recently included in the Econsultancy Top 100 Digital Agencies report – a highly-respected ranking of the top digital companies in the UK.

The list defines the leading marketing, design, creative, media and technical agencies in the country, and is a replacement for the NMA Top 100, which was the previous indicator of achievement for industry professionals.

It is the first time the company has charted and with six months of excellent growth and development so far in 2013, it expects to quickly climb from its number 98 spot.
