Gateshead asbestos management company Lucion Environmental has acquired a Rotherham-based surveying company.

Lucion Environmental – headquartered in Gateshead with six offices around the UK – has bought out asbestos surveying company MPC Northern in a bid to expand into the infrastructure sector and strengthen its presence in South Yorkshire.

The 122-strong firm now plans to move its Sheffield operations to MPC’s offices, bringing its workforce in the area to 15.

Lucion’s financial director and co-founder Charles Pickles said: “MPC is a long-established, solid and well-regarded name within our industry.

“The acquisition of MPC has not only enabled Lucion to expand its service offering to more niche areas of the industry but allowed to us to expand on the highly trained staff we now have working for us.”
