Birtley-based excavator manufacturer Komatsu UK has completed an order worth more than £25m for its US counterpart.

The company manufactured and shipped some 190 of its PC360-10 hydraulic excavators to sister company Komatsu America, supporting it in a period of high demand. The machines were made specifically to meet US specification, which is different to that of European models.

Komatsu UK’s senior purchasing manager, Trevor Cairns, said: “As the European market overall remained flat in 2013, this was a welcome boost to our order book as well as those of our supply chain.

“Komatsu remains focused on continuous improvement as its core philosophy, and adopts a very collaborative approach towards working with its suppliers.”
