Private equity portfolio company Kitwave Wholesale Group has completed its seventh acquisition by purchasing food firm Eden Farm.

Kitwave, headquartered in North Shields, was set up in 1987 as an acquisition vehicle to purchase the small confectionery wholesale business, M&M Value, and has become a fast-growing depot business dealing in fast-moving consumer goods.

Now it has acquired Eden Farm, based in Peterlee, a family-run business originally set up with one minivan delivering its homegrown produce to customers. It has since grown into a £40m turnover five-depot operation with a national delivery network operating from Peterlee, Cambridge, Bradford, Cardiff and Glasgow.

The combined turnover for the enlarged Kitwave group is now approaching £250m.
