A County Durham pub is to reopen on May 9 after a £450,000 refurbishment funded by the new leaseholders and pub company, Punch Taverns.

The Jolly Drovers in Leadgate was closed for six weeks while it was being redecorated in a more modern, brighter style.

Leaseholders Michelle and Brian Proud, who have 30 years of combined experience in the pub trade, have also introduced a new food menu.

Michelle said: “The pub looks fantastic and I can’t believe the transformation.

“The investment will allow us to cater for families, strengthen our food offer, and essentially bring the pub back to the community.

“The team and I look forward to the reopening and welcoming some old and new faces back to the pub to celebrate the new look with us.”
