A North East events production firm has doubled its workforce and ploughed £100,000 into sight, sound and getting around to thrust it further into the spotlight.

JC Events was formed just 10 months ago by Jacqui Chapman, a former director of award-winning business Spacecraft who decided to embark on a new venture when she and the other director went their separate ways.

The firm was established to focus on providing specialist services, including creating sets for conferences, events and exhibitions, taking with her a number of core staff to the new base at One Trinity Green, South Shields.

Since its launch, when Chapman brought a number of former clients on board, she has built up an impressive client list including the likes of SIG Combibloc, the Alan Shearer Foundation, for which it provided a stunning room dressing and AV experience at Gateshead’s Hilton hotel, Fuji Films, The Beacon, Crafters Companion, Media Works, NOF Energy.

New clients include Albion Overseas, South Tyneside Manufacturing Forum and Your Homes Newcastle.

Now JC Events has enhanced its audio visual department with £70,000 of new equipment to capitalise on demand for its creative talents.

As well as the AV investment around £25,000 has been spent in new vans to transport its props and bespoke theming to events, as well as investment in a new website.

The specialist team has also been strengthened with the appointment of AV manager Jai Wall, Matt Bowmaker as events production manager, and office manager Jill Gilligan, arrivals whichhas taken the workforce from three to seven.

Chapman, from Sunderland, said: “Our existing AV department was exceptional but it is always necessary to look to improve and to explore if something that little bit extra special can be found.

“The investment is significant but we have planned very carefully, we know exactly the direction we are going in and what it is that we want to be able to offer clients – there is little that we cannot achieve for them.

“Adding to the workforce has also been essential and we now have a fantastically creative and imaginative team in place.”

“There have been many challenges in the ten months since the company was founded but it has been a tremendously exciting time and extremely satisfying.”

The JC Events team also consists of exhibition manager Mark Worthington and joiner Phil Brown, whose impressive CV includes working on the latest refit of Calvin Klein’s Regent Street outlet in London.

Chapman is also director of the East Durham Employability Trust, a social enterprise that supports the unemployed.
