Hartlepool's business of the year is helping one of the town’s most famous names reduce its environmental impact.

J & B Recycling has been appointed to manage all waste from Camerons Brewery, which has been a commanding presence in Hartlepool since opening in 1865.

The deal was struck after managers at Camerons realised there was more they could do to increase the amount of waste recycled from the site.

Martin Dutoy, director of packaging and brewing, said: “It was our aim to have zero waste sent to landfill and I am delighted that we have achieved that accreditation after just a few months with J & B Recycling.”

J & B Recycling, which was named Hartlepool Business of the Year for the second time in the 2013 Hartlepool Business Awards operates weekly collections from Camerons.

J & B managing director Vikki Jackson-Smith said: “We are delighted to be working with Camerons Brewery because they are such a well-known North East brand. Camerons has a clear commitment to reducing its landfill waste to zero.”
